Native of the entire California coast into Oregon. An extremely rugged grass-like plant belonging to the family of Rushes. Produces many thin, upright gray-green spike-like leaves to around 2’ tall. Full sun or light shade. Very adaptable, able to grow in bogs or in very dry conditions, tolerating any soils.
 
Very low maintenance and pest free. Popularly used in borders, large groupings or planters. Hardy to 15°. Juncus p. ‘Elk Blue’- Striking blue-gray foliage on this San Marcos Growers introduction.
